So, what is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant has bonded with the surrounding bone, a process called osseointegration, a custom-made crown, bridge or denture is attached on top to restore the appearance and function of the missing tooth or teeth.
The result is a replacement that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth. You can eat, speak and smile without thinking about it and with the right care, implants can last a lifetime.
Unlike dentures, implants are fixed in place and never need to be removed. Unlike bridges, they do not require the neighbouring teeth to be cut down. They are widely regarded as the gold standard solution for missing teeth, and the results speak for themselves.

Types of dental implants we offer

Single Tooth Implant

A single titanium implant topped with a custom-made crown. Virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth and the most common implant procedure we carry out. Ideal for patients who have lost one tooth through decay, injury or extraction.
From £1,200

Implant Bridge

Where two or more adjacent teeth are missing, an implant bridge uses two implants to support a fixed bridge across the gap, without touching the surrounding natural teeth. A stable, long-lasting solution that avoids removable partial dentures.
From £3,500

Implant Retained Dentures

For patients missing all or most of the teeth on one arch, implant retained dentures offer a significantly more stable and comfortable alternative to conventional removable dentures. A small number of implants anchor the denture securely, no adhesive required.
From £5,000 per arch

Full Arch — Teeth in a Day

A complete new set of fixed, permanent teeth supported by four to six implants, often delivered in a single day. Life-changing results for patients who have struggled with failing teeth or traditional dentures for years.
From £11,500

Same Day Implants

For suitable candidates, the implant and a temporary crown can be placed in a single appointment, meaning you leave the same day with a tooth in place. Where clinically appropriate, this significantly reduces overall treatment time.
From £2,000

Bone Grafting & Sinus Lifts

Some patients do not have sufficient bone volume to support an implant without preparatory work. Bone grafting and sinus lift procedures rebuild the bone to a level where implants can be placed successfully. We carry out these procedures in-house.
Bone grafting from £250 | Sinus lift from £700

Am I a suitable candidate for dental implants?

Most healthy adults are suitable candidates. The key requirements are reasonable general health, sufficient bone volume in the jaw and healthy gums.

If you have been told in the past that you are not suitable, it is worth getting a second opinion. Advances in techniques and materials mean that patients previously considered unsuitable, including those with significant bone loss, can often be treated successfully today.

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Have one or more missing teeth
  • Have a fully developed jaw, implants are generally suitable from age 18 onwards
  • Are a non-smoker or willing to stop smoking around the time of treatment
  • Are in good general health with no uncontrolled systemic conditions
  • Have or can build sufficient bone volume

We would discuss your suitability carefully if you:

  • Smoke –  Smoking affects healing and can reduce long-term success rates
  • Have diabetes – Well-controlled diabetes is generally not a barrier to treatment
  • Take Medications – Taking certain medications including bisphosphonates, your clinician will assess this
  • Struggle with bone loss – If you have experienced significant bone loss, a bone graft may be needed first

The only way to know for certain is to book a consultation. At Brunner Court, this is completely free of charge.

"From start to finish the team were fantastic. Being extremely nervous, I was put at ease straightaway. Every process was faultless. Would highly recommend."

What does dental implant treatment involve?

1
Starting point

Free consultation

Your journey begins with a free consultation at our Northwich practice. Your clinician will examine your teeth and gums, discuss your goals and medical history and take any necessary x-rays. You'll leave with a clear treatment plan and full written costs, with no obligation to proceed.

2
Before we begin

Treatment planning and scanning

For more complex cases, a CBCT scan is taken in-house to give a three-dimensional picture of your jaw structure. This allows precise planning of implant position before any treatment begins.

3
The procedure

Implant placement

The implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward the procedure feels. Sedation is available for anxious patients. Placement typically takes between one and two hours depending on the number of implants.

4
While you recover

Healing and osseointegration

A healing period of several weeks allows the titanium post to bond fully with the surrounding bone. During this time most patients wear a temporary restoration so there is no visible gap.

5
Connecting the pieces

Final restoration

Once healing is confirmed, the final crown, bridge or denture is fitted and secured. Your clinician checks the fit, bite and appearance carefully before completing the procedure.

6
The moment it all comes together

Aftercare

Implants are maintained just like natural teeth, regular brushing, flossing and hygiene appointments. We will see you for a follow-up check and remain available throughout the life of your implant.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants in Northwich

At Brunner Court, single dental implants start from £1,200. Full arch treatment starts from £11,500. Your exact cost depends on the number of implants required and whether any preparatory treatment such as bone grafting is needed. A full written cost breakdown is provided at your free consultation before any work begins. Finance is available through Tabeo with interest-free options.

Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic and most patients report significantly less discomfort than they expected. Some tenderness in the days following the procedure is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Sedation is available for patients who are anxious. Your clinician will talk you through exactly what to expect at your consultation.

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The titanium implant post is designed to be permanent. The crown or restoration on top may need replacing after 15 to 20 years depending on wear. Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular hygiene appointments is the most important factor in long-term success.

Bone loss is a common reason patients are told implants are not possible, often because the tooth has been missing for some time. At Brunner Court, bone grafting and sinus lift procedures are available in-house to rebuild bone volume before implant placement. Many patients told elsewhere that implants were not an option have been successfully treated here. A free consultation will establish what is possible in your case.

A straightforward single implant typically takes three to six months from placement to final restoration, allowing for the healing period. More complex cases involving bone grafting or multiple implants may take longer. Same day implants are available for suitable candidates where a temporary restoration is placed on the day of surgery. Your clinician will give you a clear timeline at your free consultation.
