What is full arch dental implant treatment?
Full arch dental implants, sometimes called Teeth in a Day or All-on-4, replace an entire upper or lower set of teeth with a fixed, permanent dental prosthesis supported by four to six implants placed into the jawbone.
Unlike conventional dentures, the result is fixed in place. You cannot remove it and you do not need to. It functions, feels and looks like a full set of natural teeth. You eat what you want, speak with complete confidence and stop thinking about your teeth altogether, which is exactly how it should be.
The treatment is designed for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth on one or both arches, or who have a number of failing, heavily restored or infected teeth that are no longer worth saving. Types of full arch treatment we offer
Teeth in a Day
Our most popular full arch solution. Four to six implants are placed in a single surgical appointment and a fixed temporary arch is attached on the same day, meaning you leave the practice with a full set of teeth. Once healing is complete, the temporary arch is replaced with the final, permanent restoration.
This is not the same as having individual implants placed over many months. It is a complete, coordinated treatment plan designed to give you a functional, natural-looking result as efficiently as possible.

Full Arch with Bone Grafting
Some patients do not have sufficient bone volume to support implants without preparatory work, often because teeth have been missing for some time and the underlying bone has resorbed. Where this is the case, bone grafting or a sinus lift procedure is carried out first to rebuild the bone to the level needed for successful implant placement. Both procedures are available in-house at Brunner Court.

Upper Arch, Lower Arch or Both
Full arch treatment can be carried out on the upper arch, the lower arch or both, depending on your clinical needs. Where both arches are being treated, this is typically planned and phased to allow for healing and to keep the overall process as manageable as possible.
Am I a suitable candidate?
Full arch implant treatment is suitable for a wider range of patients than many people expect. If you have been living with failing teeth, significant decay, advanced gum disease or a denture that no longer fits comfortably, you may be a very good candidate.
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Have lost most or all of your teeth on one or both arches
- Have multiple failing, infected or heavily restored teeth with a poor long-term prognosis
- Currently wear a full or partial denture and find it uncomfortable or unstable
- Are in reasonable general health
- Have or can build sufficient bone volume to support implants
We would discuss your circumstances carefully if you:
- Smoke heavily: Smoking affects healing and long-term implant success rates. It is not always a barrier to treatment, and many smokers are treated successfully but it is something your clinician will discuss with you honestly from the outset.
- Have diabetes or other systemic conditions: Well-managed health conditions are generally not a barrier to full arch treatment. We will always review your medical history carefully before any treatment is planned.
- Have significant bone loss: This is extremely common in full arch patients and in many cases is treatable with bone grafting procedures carried out in-house at Brunner Court. It is rarely the dead end patients expect it to be.
- Take bisphosphonates or other medications affecting bone: Certain medications require careful consideration before implant treatment. Your clinician will review your full medication history at consultation and advise on the best course of action.
If you have been told elsewhere that full arch implants are not possible for you, it is worth a second opinion. Many patients who were told they lacked sufficient bone have been successfully treated at Brunner Court following preparatory bone grafting.
What does full arch treatment involve?

Your first appointment is free of charge. Dr Nikhil will carry out a thorough clinical assessment, review your dental and medical history and discuss your goals in detail. You will leave with a clear treatment plan and full written costs, with no obligation to proceed.
CBCT scanning and treatment planning
A CBCT scan is taken in-house to produce a three-dimensional image of your jaw structure, bone density and nerve positions. This is the foundation of precise surgical planning and ensures the implants are positioned optimally before a single incision is made.
Preparatory treatment (if required)
Where teeth need to be extracted before implant placement, or where bone grafting is required to build sufficient volume, this is carried out and allowed to heal before surgery proceeds. Your treatment plan will set out clearly whether this applies to your case and what it involves.
Implant placement and same-day arch
On the day of surgery, four to six implants are placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Sedation is available and recommended for many full arch patients. A fixed temporary arch is attached to the implants on the same day — you leave the practice with a full set of teeth.
Healing and osseointegration
Over the following months the implants integrate fully with the surrounding bone. You will attend review appointments during this period so your progress can be monitored and any adjustments made to the temporary arch as needed.
Final restoration
Once healing is confirmed, typically after three to six months, the temporary arch is replaced with the final, permanent restoration. This is custom-made to your specification in terms of shade, shape and overall appearance.
Aftercare
Your final arch is cleaned just like natural teeth — brushing, specialist interdental cleaning and regular hygiene appointments. We will continue to see you for periodic reviews to ensure everything remains in excellent condition.
