Single Tooth Implant in Northwich

A permanent, natural-looking solution for a single missing tooth, placed by an MSc-qualified implant dentist at our Northwich practice on Witton Street.

“A single tooth implant is the most effective long-term solution for a missing tooth. Once a tooth is lost, the bone beneath it begins to resorb and surrounding teeth can gradually shift, the sooner it is addressed, the more straightforward the treatment. At Brunner Court in Northwich, single tooth implants are placed by Dr Nikhil Oberai, an MSc-qualified implant dentist with over a decade of experience. Implants start from £1,200, with finance available through Tabeo from as little as £65 per month. Free consultations available. Call 01606 44394 or book online.”

So, What is a single tooth implant?

A single tooth implant is a permanent replacement for one missing tooth. A small titanium post is placed into the jawbone where the tooth root once sat. Once the implant has bonded with the surrounding bone, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached on top, designed to match the colour, shape and size of your surrounding teeth.
The result is a replacement tooth that is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. It sits fixed in your jaw, functions exactly like a natural tooth and, with the right care, can last a lifetime.
It is worth understanding what a single implant is not. It is not a denture that can be removed. It is not a bridge that requires the neighbouring teeth to be cut down. It is the closest thing modern dentistry has to growing a new tooth and for most patients who have lost a single tooth, it is the best long-term option available.

Why choose an implant over other options?

When a tooth is lost, there are typically three ways to replace it, a denture, a bridge or an implant. Each has its place, but for most patients a single implant offers advantages the other options cannot match.

Single implant vs a denture

A partial denture replaces the visible tooth but sits on the gum surface and can move when eating or speaking. It does nothing to prevent the bone loss that occurs when a tooth root is no longer present. An implant replaces the root as well as the crown, stimulates the jawbone and stays fixed in place permanently.

Single implant vs a bridge

A traditional bridge fills the gap by crowning the two teeth either side and suspending a false tooth between them. This means two perfectly healthy teeth need to be cut down and crowned, often unnecessarily. An implant stands entirely independently and leaves the neighbouring teeth untouched.

Single implant, the long-term case

An implant costs more upfront than a denture or bridge. Over a lifetime, however, it is often the most cost-effective solution because it is designed to be permanent, it preserves the bone beneath it and it does not place any stress on the surrounding teeth.

Am I a suitable candidate?

Most adults who have lost a single tooth are suitable candidates for an implant. The main requirements are that you are in reasonable general health, that your gums are healthy and that there is sufficient bone in the jaw to support the implant.

You are likely a good candidate if you:

  • Have lost a single tooth through decay, injury or extraction
  • Have a fully developed jaw, implants are generally suitable from age 18 onwards
  • Are in good general health with no uncontrolled systemic conditions
  • Have healthy gums with no active periodontal disease
  • Are a non-smoker or willing to stop smoking around the time of treatment

We would discuss your circumstances carefully if you:

  • Smoke: Smoking affects healing and can reduce implant success rates over time. It is not always a barrier to treatment, but it is something we will talk through honestly at your consultation.
  • Have been told you have insufficient bone: This is more common than most people realise and is often something we can address. Bone grafting procedures are available in-house at Brunner Court.
  • Take certain medications: Some medications, including bisphosphonates, can affect implant treatment. Your clinician will review your full medication history at consultation and advise accordingly.
  • Have diabetes: Well-controlled diabetes is generally not a barrier to implant treatment. We will always review your medical history carefully before treatment begins.

If you have been told elsewhere that you are not suitable for implants, it is worth getting a second opinion. A free consultation at Brunner Court will give you a clear, honest answer based on your own clinical picture.

What does single tooth implant treatment involve?

1
Starting point

Free consultation

Your first appointment is free of charge. Dr Nikhil will examine your teeth and gums, review your dental and medical history and take x-rays. You will leave with a clear written treatment plan and full cost breakdown, with no obligation to proceed.

2
Before we begin

Treatment planning

For most single implant cases, detailed planning is carried out using x-rays and in some cases a CBCT scan taken in-house. This gives a precise three-dimensional picture of your jaw and ensures the implant is positioned correctly before placement begins.

3
The procedure

Implant placement

The implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic in a straightforward surgical procedure. Most patients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the appointment is. The procedure typically takes around an hour. Sedation is available if you would prefer it.

4
While you recover

Healing

Over the following weeks the titanium implant integrates with the surrounding bone, a natural process called osseointegration. A temporary restoration is placed during this time so you are never left with a visible gap.

5
Connecting the pieces

Final crown

Once healing is confirmed, your custom-made porcelain crown is fitted onto the implant and secured in place. Dr Nikhil checks the fit, bite and appearance carefully. Most patients leave this appointment unable to tell the implant apart from their natural teeth.

6
The moment it all comes together

Ongoing care

Your implant is cared for exactly like a natural tooth. Regular brushing, flossing and hygiene appointments are all that is needed to keep it in good condition for the long term.

Frequently asked questions about single tooth implants in Northwich

At Brunner Court, single tooth implants start from £1,200. Same day implants, where a temporary crown is placed on the day of surgery, start from £2,000. If bone grafting is required beforehand, this starts from £250. A full written cost breakdown is provided at your free consultation before any treatment begins. With proper care a single tooth implant can last a lifetime. The titanium post is designed to be permanent and, once fully integrated with the jawbone, is extremely stable. The porcelain crown on top may need replacing after 15 to 20 years depending on wear. Regular hygiene appointments and good oral hygiene at home are the most important factors in long-term success.

For most patients, yes. A bridge requires the two neighbouring teeth to be cut down and crowned, placing healthy teeth at unnecessary risk. An implant stands completely independently, leaves the surrounding teeth untouched and also prevents the bone loss that occurs when a tooth root is missing. It is generally the better long-term solution for replacing a single tooth, and the one we recommend in most cases.

A straightforward single implant typically takes between three and six months from the initial placement to the fitting of the final crown, allowing for the healing and osseointegration period. Same day implants, where a temporary crown is placed on the day of surgery, are available for suitable candidates and significantly reduce the visible treatment timeline. Your clinician will give you a realistic estimate at your free consultation.

Yes. The crown placed on top of your implant is custom-made to match the colour, size and shape of your surrounding teeth. Most patients and most people looking at them, cannot tell the difference between the implant and their natural teeth. Your clinician will check the appearance carefully at the fitting appointment and make any adjustments needed before the crown is permanently secured.
