Clinical assessment and records
If you decide to go ahead, detailed records of your teeth are taken, including photographs, x-rays and impressions or a digital scan. These are used to plan your treatment and produce your custom aligners.
Treatment planning
Dimitris produces a treatment plan showing the planned tooth movements and projected outcome. You will review this before any aligners are produced and have the opportunity to discuss the expected result and timeline.
Aligner fabrication
Your custom aligners are produced to the exact specification of your treatment plan. Small tooth-coloured attachments may be bonded to certain teeth in some cases to help the aligners apply the required forces. These are removed at the end of treatment.
Wearing your aligners
You wear each aligner for the prescribed period before moving to the next in the series. Aligners are removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water and cleaning your teeth. Review appointments are scheduled throughout treatment so Dimitris can monitor your progress.
Retainers
Once treatment is complete, retainers are essential to hold the teeth in their new positions. Without retainers, teeth will gradually drift back over time. Your clinician will discuss retainer options with you at the end of your treatment.
