What is Invisalign Full?
Invisalign Full is the most comprehensive version of the Invisalign system. Where Invisalign Lite is designed for mild to moderate cases using up to 14 aligners per arch, Invisalign Full places no limit on the number of aligners that can be used. This makes it suitable for a much wider range of cases, including those involving significant tooth movement, complex bite correction or multiple alignment concerns treated simultaneously.
The aligners are made from the same clear, custom-fitted material as all Invisalign products. They are worn over the teeth for 20 to 22 hours per day and removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water and cleaning the teeth. They are virtually invisible in daily life and, for most patients, have very little impact on speech after the initial few days of adjustment.
Treatment typically takes between six and eighteen months depending on the complexity of the case. The result is a straighter, healthier smile achieved without fixed metal brackets or wires at any stage of treatment.
What can Invisalign Full correct?
Invisalign Full is suitable for the full range of alignment concerns, from moderate cases that fall outside the scope of Invisalign Lite through to complex multi-issue cases.
Teeth Gaps
Spaces between teeth of any size, across one or both arches, can be closed effectively with Invisalign Full.
Crowded teeth
Where teeth are significantly overlapping, rotated or displaced due to insufficient space in the jaw, Invisalign Full can create a noticeably straighter result over the course of treatment.
Underbite
Where the lower front teeth sit in front of the upper front teeth, Invisalign Full can address mild to moderate underbites by moving the relevant teeth into the correct position.
Crossbite
Where some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth, Invisalign Full corrects the crossbite by guiding the affected teeth into proper alignment with the opposing arch.
Upperbite
Where the upper front teeth protrude forward more than they should, Invisalign Full can retract them into better alignment and improve both the appearance and the function of the bite.
Overbite
Where the upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth excessively in the vertical plane, Invisalign Full reduces the overbite and creates a healthier, more balanced bite relationship.
Am I a suitable candidate for Invisalign Full?
Invisalign Full is suitable for adult and teenage patients with moderate to complex alignment concerns who want a discreet, removable alternative to fixed braces.
Invisalign Full may be right for you if:
- You have moderate to significant crowding, spacing or bite concerns
- Your case is beyond what Invisalign Lite can address
- You want a comprehensive alignment correction without fixed metal braces
- You have healthy teeth and gums with no active decay or gum disease
- You are committed to wearing your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day throughout treatment
We would discuss your circumstances carefully if you:
- Have very severe skeletal bite issues: Some bite problems have a skeletal origin rather than a dental one and may require orthodontic treatment in combination with other intervention. Your clinician will assess this honestly at consultation.
- Have active decay or gum disease: These must be resolved before any Invisalign treatment begins.
- Have significant dental restorations on the teeth being moved: Crowns, bridges and veneers can often be moved with Invisalign but need individual assessment before the treatment plan is finalised.
- Have previously had Invisalign treatment with significant relapse: Where significant movement has been lost, a full reassessment is needed before a new treatment plan is produced. Your clinician will review the situation at consultation.
What does Invisalign Full treatment involve?
Free consultation
Your first appointment is a free consultation with Dr Natasja Kashyap. She will examine your teeth, discuss your goals and confirm whether Invisalign Full is the right treatment for your specific case. There is no obligation to proceed at this stage.
Clin-Check and digital planning
If you decide to go ahead, a detailed digital scan of your teeth is taken and submitted to Invisalign for Clin-Check processing. This produces a full 3D simulation of how your teeth will move through treatment, showing you the projected outcome before any aligners are made. The Clin-Check costs £325. Your clinician will review it with you in detail and confirm the full treatment plan before aligners are ordered.
Aligner fabrication
Your full series of custom aligners is manufactured by Invisalign to the exact specification of your Clin-Check plan. Small tooth-coloured attachments are bonded to certain teeth in most Invisalign Full cases to help the aligners apply the precise forces needed for more complex movements. These are removed at the end of treatment.
Wearing your aligners
You wear each aligner for approximately one to two weeks, for 20 to 22 hours per day. Aligners are removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water and cleaning your teeth. You attend review appointments approximately every six to eight weeks so your clinician can monitor progress and issue the next sets of aligners.
Refinements
Refinement aligners are a standard part of Invisalign Full treatment for most patients, used to fine-tune the final positions of the teeth towards the end of the planned series. Your clinician will assess progress at your later review appointments and arrange refinements where needed.
Retainers
Once treatment is complete, retainers are essential to hold the teeth in their new positions. Without retainers, teeth will gradually drift back over time. Vivera retainers are available from £400 for three dual-arch sets and fixed retainers from £150 per arch. Retainer wear is lifelong to maintain the result of your treatment.
