What is Invisalign Lite?
Invisalign Lite is a streamlined version of the Invisalign system, designed for patients whose teeth need only a moderate degree of movement to achieve the desired result. Where Invisalign Full uses an unlimited number of aligners to address more complex cases, Invisalign Lite uses up to 14 aligners per arch to deliver a focused correction over a shorter treatment period.
The aligners are made from the same clear, custom-fitted material as standard Invisalign. They are worn over the teeth and removed only for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. They are virtually invisible in daily life and do not affect speech in the way fixed braces can.
Treatment typically takes between three and six months, making Invisalign Lite a popular choice for patients with a specific event or deadline in mind, or for those who want to address a relatively straightforward concern without committing to a longer treatment plan.
What can Invisalign Lite correct?
Invisalign Lite is best suited to patients with mild to moderate alignment concerns. The six most common cases it addresses are:
Gaps
Small spaces between teeth, particularly in the upper or lower front arch, can be closed or reduced with Invisalign Lite in a relatively short treatment period.
Crowded teeth
Where teeth are slightly overlapping or rotated due to insufficient space in the jaw, Invisalign Lite creates a straighter, more even appearance without the need for a full orthodontic treatment plan.
Underbite
Where the lower front teeth sit slightly in front of the upper front teeth, Invisalign Lite can move the relevant teeth into a better position in mild cases.
Crossbite
Where some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth rather than outside them, Invisalign Lite can correct a mild crossbite by guiding the affected teeth into the correct position.
Upperbite
Where the upper front teeth protrude further forward than they should, Invisalign Lite can draw them back into better alignment with the lower teeth in mild cases.
Overbite
Where the upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth more than they should vertically, Invisalign Lite can reduce the degree of overbite and improve both the appearance and function of the bite in mild cases. If your concerns are more complex, your clinician will advise at consultation whether Invisalign Full is a better fit for your case.
Am I a suitable candidate for Invisalign Lite?
Invisalign Lite is suitable for adults and older teenagers with mild to moderate alignment concerns and healthy teeth and gums.
Invisalign Lite may be right for you if:
- You have mild crowding, spacing or minor misalignment
- You have experienced some relapse after previous orthodontic treatment
- You want a shorter treatment timeline of three to six months
- You have healthy teeth and gums with no active decay or gum disease
- You are committed to wearing the aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day
We would discuss your circumstances carefully if you:
- Have moderate to complex alignment issues: Where significant crowding, bite correction or rotation is needed, Invisalign Lite may not be sufficient to achieve the desired result. Your clinician will review your Clin-Check and advise honestly whether Lite or Full is the right treatment for your case.
- Have active decay or gum disease: These must be resolved before any Invisalign treatment begins.
- Have significant dental restorations on the teeth being moved: Crowns, bridges or veneers need individual assessment before treatment is planned.
- Cannot commit to wearing time: Invisalign Lite requires the same 20 to 22 hours per day of wear as Invisalign Full. Patients who remove aligners frequently will not achieve the planned result within the projected timeframe.
What does Invisalign Lite treatment involve?
Free consultation
Your first appointment is a free consultation with Dr Natasja Kashyap. She will examine your teeth, discuss your goals and confirm whether Invisalign Lite is the right treatment for your specific case. There is no obligation to proceed at this stage.
Clin-Check and digital planning
If you decide to go ahead, a detailed digital scan of your teeth is taken and submitted to Invisalign for Clin-Check processing. This produces a 3D simulation of how your teeth will move through the planned treatment and shows you the projected outcome before any aligners are made. The Clin-Check costs £325. Your clinician will review it with you in detail and confirm the treatment plan before aligners are ordered.
Aligner fabrication
Your custom aligners are manufactured by Invisalign to the exact specification of your Clin-Check plan. In some cases, small tooth-coloured attachments are bonded to certain teeth to help the aligners apply the required forces. These are removed at the end of treatment.
Wearing your aligners
You wear each aligner for approximately one to two weeks, for 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth. You attend review appointments approximately every six to eight weeks so your clinician can monitor progress and issue the next sets of aligners.
Refinements (if needed)
Where minor adjustments are needed towards the end of treatment, additional refinement aligners may be required. Your clinician will assess this at your later review appointments.
Retainers
Once treatment is complete, retainers are essential to hold the teeth in their new positions. Vivera retainers are available from £400 for three dual-arch sets and fixed retainers from £150 per arch. Retainer wear is lifelong to maintain the result of treatment.

Yes. Retainers are essential after any teeth straightening treatment to hold the teeth in their new positions. Without retainers, teeth will gradually drift back towards their original alignment over time. At Brunner Court, Vivera retainers (three dual-arch sets) are available from £400 and fixed retainers from £150 per arch. Retainer wear is lifelong.
